Gorgie Collective members are passionate about making art accessible to people in our community. Over the last few years, we have been working on permanent and pop-up public artworks in Gorgie-Dalry. These include our collaborative sculpture at the entrance to Wheatfield Community Backgreen installed in 2018, a street art takeover to promote St Martin's annual art exhibition in the summer of 2019 and our latest work, the Harlequin Fence, a ceramic installation in White Park on Gorgie Road.
Gorgie Collective artists installed the Harlequin Fence on the Summer Solstice, 2020. This work symbolises optimism and a time of blossoming and regrowth after a very challenging year. Our permanent artwork is complemented by the changing colours of nature in the park setting. We hope our sculpture lifts the spirits of everyone who views it.
We are currently working on bringing more public artworks to our local area of Gorgie-Dalry, and we are always glad to hear from local artists with a community or public art practice who are interested in getting involved.
